What is Reiki? (...and why you should try it!)

 

If I had a dollar for every time someone messaged me on Instagram and asked me what Reiki was, I’d have… you know, a shit-ton of dollars. As a Reiki Level II practitioner, I am honored to help others and share the magic of this spiritual healing modality. So let’s dive in, shall we?

What is Reiki?

Reiki is a type of therapeutic energy healing that involves the transfer of energy from the practitioner to the patient with the intention of improving the patient's overall well-being. Originating in Japan, this healing practice promotes physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. Reiki practitioners believe that the energy they are channeling has the ability to restore balance to the recipient's body, mind, and spirit.

Reiki sessions are typically done in a quiet, relaxing setting, and may involve the practitioner placing their hands on or near a representation of the recipient's body in a series of hand positions. Some people may experience feelings of relaxation, peace, or warmth during or after a Reiki session.

While it can be an incredible complement to traditional medical treatments and can help to improve overall well-being and quality of life, it is important to note that Reiki is not a substitute for medical treatment.
