Supplies for Successful Beginner Lettering
Hey, friends!
As promised, here’s a short but helpful list of everything you’ll need to be successful in my online lettering course Hand Lettering for the Creative Soul: A back-to-basics guide to lettering for fun.
The best part - you probably have most or all of these supplies already. If you’ve already got these, awesome. You don’t need anything else! (There are no wrong supplies, either. If you’ve got something similar, use that.) If you’re missing a few things, that’s cool too. I’ve got you. Grab these items easy-peasy by clicking on the item name below, and you’ll be ready to get started.
*Just to let you know, this post contains affiliate links, which means if you decide to purchase some of these items, I’ll receive a small commission at no extra cost to you. (Win win, amirite?)
Here we go!
Pencil - I prefer standard #2 pencils for lettering because the lead doesn’t break as often. This is personal preference.
Loose Paper - You’ve probably got some of this laying around, or if you have a sketchbook, tear some pages out.
Ruler - You’ve probably got one of these, too. Any straight-edge will do.
Tracing Paper - This was a game-changer for when I started working in layers.
Felt-Tipped No-Bleed Markers - For tracing your final pieces. The no-bleed is crucial - this will keep your line edges from spreading past your intentional marks.
Sharpener - In case you don’t have one already and you purchase shiny new #2 pencils.
Eraser - For those marks you just can’t live with.
Catch you soon,
🖤Megan
